Start with journal fit, then check identity, policies and costs before deciding.
Begin with the paper, not a promise
Write a short profile of your manuscript: research question, subject area, article type and intended readers. Add your institution’s publication requirements and your budget. This gives our consultation a concrete starting point.
A shortlist should explain why each journal might suit the work. Ask what audience you want to reach and how the paper relates to the journal’s recent subject coverage. A publication claim alone does not answer these questions.
Check the journal independently
The Think. Check. Submit. checklist recommends checking journal identity, publisher contact details, peer-review information, author guidance and transparent fees. Cross-check the title and ISSN, and read recent articles before making a choice.
Confirm any indexing requirement in the relevant database. Keep the record and date you checked. A journal website link in our directory is a starting point for investigation; it is not certification of current database coverage.
Turn the shortlist into a publication plan
Send us your abstract, research field and any journals you have already considered. Tell us about earlier submissions so we can discuss the next step in context.
We agree the target journal, permitted support tasks and total package price with you before proceeding. If the target changes, the new scope and price must be discussed again. You retain the decision on where to submit.
Your next-step checklist
- Title and abstract ready
- Institutional requirements written down
- Target audience and article type identified
- Journal identity and policies checked
- Total package and currency agreed
